How to get HEC degree attestation

About 21 days

Foreign scholarships and universities ask for degrees attested by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Attestation confirms your degree is genuine.

Steps

  1. Create an account on the HEC e-portal (eportal.hec.gov.pk) and complete your profile.
  2. Apply for "Degree Attestation". Upload scans of your degree, transcript, Intermediate and Matric certificates, and CNIC.
  3. Pay the fee (about PKR 1,000 per document for regular service) through the challan shown on the portal.
  4. Choose in-person or courier. For in-person, book a slot and bring original documents to the HEC regional office (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta).
  5. Attested documents are returned the same day for in-person, or by courier in 1 to 2 weeks.

Before you apply

  • Your university must have already sent your degree data to HEC. If the portal says your degree is not verified, contact your university's exam office first.
  • If you only have a provisional certificate, get the final degree issued first.

Typical time: 2 to 3 weeks including university verification.
