How to get a passport
About 30 days
Every scholarship abroad needs a valid passport, usually with at least 6 months left before it expires. Apply before you apply for the scholarship, not after.
Where to go
Any Regional Passport Office, or online through the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports e-services portal (onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk) if you have a CNIC.
What to bring
- Original CNIC (or B-Form with a parent's CNIC if you are under 18)
- Copy of CNIC
- Fee receipt from a National Bank branch or paid online (normal 10-year passport is about PKR 4,500; urgent is about PKR 7,500)
- For students, no NOC is needed
Steps
- Pay the fee and keep the receipt.
- Visit the office with your token, or complete the online form and upload a photograph.
- Photograph, fingerprints and a short interview are done at the office.
- Collect the passport or receive it by courier.
Typical time: normal 10 to 21 working days; urgent 4 to 7 working days. Plan 30 days to be safe.
